IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE KEYS BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Board has appointed Deborah Hutchings as Landscape Chair. Please contact her with all landscaping and sprinkler concerns. Her contact information is
910-368-8773 or hutchings633@gmail.com.
Recently, several residents were asked to remove the discolored plexiglass shields that were originally installed on the palladium windows for hurricane protection. The Board is currently looking into options for replacements and would like to hear from owners concerning their preferences. We are aware that there is the possibility of replacing the window coverings with a similar covering and those would be grandfathered in for residents who had them installed in the past. There is also a new 3M window coating that is available and is installed on the inside of the windows. It is not advertised as hurricane protection, but stands up to 150 mph winds. In a double-paned window, if the outer glass shattered, the inner layer would protect against water damage. The 3M coating also comes in shades that allow from 25% to 70% of light inside. If you have not spoken with a board member, please let us know your preferences for window coverings and shading.
All owners, renters and guests need to be aware of The Keys Rules & Regs, which are posted on our web site. The Board recently revised rule 7.D. to read:
The following are not permitted to remain in driveways or any other Common Areas unless by prior written consent of the Board of Directors: scooters, baby carriages, toys, boats, trailers, jet skis, dune buggies, campers, motor / mobile homes, recreational vehicles, automobiles on jack stands, tractor trailer trucks or cabs, cube or box trucks, abandoned vehicles (e.g. not currently registered, unsightly, affecting the value and integrity of the community, etc.-as cited in Town of Kure Beach Ordinances)- and other similar items as deemed inappropriate by the Board.
Your current Board continues to work hard to maintain our community and oversee compliance with our Covenants, Bylaws and Rules & Regulations. The ideal number on the Board of Directors is five and there will be two vacancies in October. Please consider stepping up to fill one of these vacancies. The Board meets monthly at a time convenient for all members.
In addition to board members, there are volunteers who give their time to benefit the Keys. Residents have given many hours monitoring the recent painting and continuing work on the pond.
Please take a moment to thank all our volunteers for all they do to benefit our residents and preserve our property values.
