Dear Friends and Homeowners,
A notice from the Keys Board of Directors was sent out on December 1, 2021, giving you an update on the ongoing work with the sprinkler system. We have come a long way but there are more repairs and upgrades planned for Q1. As was mentioned in the notice we had many damaged sprinkler heads in the area contributing to the systems dysfunction and impacting the beautification negatively. Many of the damaged heads were along the driveways, nearby plant beds and street edges. Each homeowner was encouraged to be careful when driving up the driveway to park vehicles and make sure that contractors and others stay away from the grass area to avoid damaging the heads. The notice also made it clear that repair or replacement of sprinkler heads is the responsibility of each homeowner and should be directed to Malin’s Irrigation directly or indirectly via the Key’s HOA office for handling on behalf of the homeowner. The cost is the homeowner’s responsibility.
Following the December notice, we got questions if it is possible to visualize and protect the sprinkler heads when they are not on? Mike, at Malin’s Irrigation, has looked into this and can offer homeowners a permanent and solid solution by placing a “donut” like cement structure around each vulnerable head. The cost for each “donut” is about $30-40 and the total cost including installation is approximately $65. There will only be a few sprinkler heads per unit that would benefit from this protection probably not more than 3-6 depending on the unit. Please feel free to contact Mike at Malin’s Irrigation to discuss the service offering for your unit specifically.
